Butternut Creek Revival mines the rich traditions of Americana, rock and blues, creating a unique blend of acoustic music that has made them an area favorite. Their tight harmonies and solid musicianship have earned them rave reviews from all over the CNY area. Whether performing compelling original songs or playing a selection of well known and eclectic covers, listeners are always in for a very satisfying musical experience.
Butternut Creek Revival is headed by two distinctly different singer-songwriters. Len Widdekind brings a raw and rootsy approach to the band, much in the vein of John Prine and Bob Dylan, while Ed Gorham brings a smooth and polished texture to the repertoire. Ed is also a veteran guitarist who has played in blues, rock and jazz groups throughout the NYC-NJ area. Len and Ed perform as a duo on occasion, or as a trio with bassist and vocalist Dann Mather, as a quartet when joined by ace percussionist Phil Smith, or as a quintet with one of the very finest woodwind players anywhere, Pete Pecora.
Butternut Creek Revival is a band of very different musicians with diverse backgrounds. Yet, they are drawn together by the sheer love of music and the joy of sharing it with their audiences.
BCR is flexible, and can play in any configuration you need. Len and Ed, who are the core of the band, play as an acoustic duo. We can add bass, percussion and reeds (along with extra vocals) in any combination to create a bigger sound with more variety. Please contact us and let us know what you are looking for.
Butternut Creek Revival plays concerts, coffeehouses, restaurants and bars, festivals and even private parties. If your event calls for a great selection of acoustic singer-songwriter and Americana music, we fit the bill. Please contact us about booking here.
